Consequently, the confined interior of the tent is transformed quickly into a sauna. Some of us tried well to sleep outside but the mosquitos make the thing delicate for ourEuropean skin.It is only later in the night, around 2 AM which is time to wake up, that the temperature is most pleasant, about 26°C. One particular day is announced which will be spiced by the first of the four or five borders that TransAfrica will have to cross since we will enter to Mali. When Serge reaches the 46th kilometre this morning in exactly 6 hours, the truck is sent to Kidira, Senegalian city-border which deals with Diboli, its Malian counterpat posed on the other side of the Fémélé river. Nobody knows with which sauce our group of six people, equipped with two cross-country vehicles, photo, video, data-processing materials and a satellite antenna too will be eaten there, but, although having all papers theoretically allright, we fear to spend there too many long hours with suspicious customs officers.Actually, the passage of the bridge-border will occur in softness and hardly two hours. Without baksheesh but against a simple photograph of identity and 1000 Francs CFA (1,5 Euro) each one, joking with customs officers extremely courteous and sympathetic, especially curious to know more about this heat wave about which one speaks up to now and who would have appears it killed so many old people in France … In this western part of Mali, the 40°C are indeed the daily batch, even largely exceeded with hottest of the year, during May-June and yet one does not die about it inevitably…These almost two hours of forced pause will however put back Serge on his road to midday for its last 20 K of the day under a terrible heat, which one feels already drier. A road which becomes at once jolty and dusty track besides. For the exit of this long day, it is quickly necessary to install the camping and we choose to leave the track to drown us in the beautiful medium of a fair grass savannah climbing us to the chin, strewn with weak shrubs and majestic baobab trees. It is in this film set that we stop for the night and can soon admire the moon rising, perfectly round and full this evening.

D9 – 81.0Km We are now more than 650 K inside the grounds, far from the Atlantic coast and each evening it is the same scenario: the little bit of wind dies out with the daylight and it does now about as much than on the moon, in other words not the least breath, absolutely […]

[1

post-618","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-non-classe
["GET
