One man’s joy is another man’s sorrow.<\/p>\n

The good luck fairy has her eye on us: the famous typhoon forecast for last night didn’t come near us but went along the coast to the South.  So, no upset for Serge, who even had a cool departure: 18\u00b0 Celsius.  We were almost cold. We barely feel a change in the climate, which is less humid.  We are in the heart of Japan, amongst the mountains, so no doubt are blessed with milder weather because of the altitude.
 
The mountain peaks we see this morning reach 2,700 to 2,800 meters.  The wind and clouds have given way to a hot sunny day.<\/p>\n

Serge seems to have perked up since the beginning of the week and particularly since he clocked 17,000 kilometers.  The organization of his arrival is beginning to be a subject of conversation.  The figures are jumping around in his mind as if an abacus had exploded in his head.  Tenacity has taken over and that’s what is driving him forward.  In spite of highs and lows, don’t give in, hold your average, don’t give in, hold on some more…a constant objective.  The total anticipated mileage will be about 19,085 kilometers, i.e., a little less than initially planned but more than the bar of 19,030 kilometers which Serge set himself.<\/p>\n

Our small group is OK, the morale of the troops is good.  The caravan is headed toward the north of the Honshu Island and we will be at the sea in two days.<\/p>\n
