49.7 miles, a coke… and the bill<\/h2>\n

<\/b> <\/p>\n

Along the road, on the side, some tires burst with the heat.<\/p>\n

Its about 8H o\u2019clock am, it\u2019s very close.<\/p>\n

Serge has started his day. The second team arrives, the day team…we exchange morning civilities.<\/p>\n

We hold out our thumb, in the Brazilian way. It\u2019s how they say hello, everything \u2018s fine.<\/p>\n

The 2486 miles are part of the past now. "Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof". It could be the thought of the day… and of the days to come. Serge runs, his teams pass…He runs, he thinks and ticks each day gone by .From now on, from his first stride, he goes in his lane concentrated. One thing keeps him going : "his ravitos".<\/p>\n

The carrot that makes him go on. Every other mile, a glass of water, a bar of cereals, a mini sandwich .<\/p>\n

The little jar of baby food is at the top of the charts, as for the drink: a "GIRARD LIGHT":1\/3 of coke, \u00bd of water. Fresh, without ice, shaken but not to much.<\/p>\n

For many days, both teams have been supplying Serge in turn. The change of faces are rather beneficial to Sergio. Sometimes he speaks, sometimes he doesn\u2019t say anything, sometimes he smiles and sometimes finds the energy to joke.<\/p>\n

The anecdote of the day.<\/p>\n

At the 28th<\/sup> mile(45th<\/sup> km )of the stage, the suppliers ready for action, see their runner stop, waving his arms, and turning back!! A swarm of bees!!! A buzzing cloud in which he almost ran into.<\/p>\n

The dangers of the road are not over. Once more the traffic is getting busier and busier. The truck drivers in spite of their encouragement remain a problem for our "high powered"messenger !!!!!!<\/p>\n

He often looks behind him, he\u2018s afraid of making a mistake.<\/p>\n

Serge looks forward to the after TRES LAGOAS, he\u2019ll have then a wider surface to run on safely.<\/p>\n

Today around 3 p m, end of his running day, he peeved himself up into the "leech".<\/p>\n

He sat down, looked in front of him, and said:<\/p>\n

"50 Miles is a long distance!…<\/p>\n

The coke was bubbling. A new day could start.<\/p>\n
