Serge very slowly covers the first ten  kilometers to the col (3800m). He limps because of his calf, he alternates  walking and running. Then we go down to Careres Mariscal (2850m),the scenery is  wonderful, a mixture of cultivated land and fields ; We get into the Andes, the  villages we go through are inhabited by the Inca, speaking the Quecha (Inca  dialect) <o:p>  <\/o:p>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\" style=\"mso-bidi-font-size:  10.0pt;mso-ansi-language:EN-GB\">Serge begins to realize the scope of this  challenge, the altitude combined with the variation of heights makes it very  difficult.
