J317 - Sunday, August 29: Dublin - Arklow

78.05km  – 10H38’
Altitude : 5m
We had the very kind visit from someone who has reassured Serge:  Dr. Jean-Pierre Roattino, who has been following us actively since we were in the region near Narbonne.  This morning before the start, at 6:30 a.m., Serge was examined in a rather unusual atmosphere.  Serge’s blood pressure is 12/7 which is ideal.  The new pubic pain on the left hand side, which spreads to his back and which has worried Serge a great deal, is not caused by a problem in the belly but is due to severe tendon inflammation.    Serge is reassured and now has to live with the pain, as he has been doing for several months.  When Serge understands the problem, he can manage the pain more easily.  When the cause is unknown, his brain doesn’t deal with it in the same way and fatigue makes it difficult to manage.  Jean-Pierre followed the caravan until early afternoon, before returning to Argelès sur Mer, where he lives.  Many thanks for this quick visit, which enabled us to get to know each other better.  See you soon.
We crossed Dublin at 7:30 a.m. this morning and in spite of the early hour, the city was not asleep.  We had no trouble driving on the narrow, twisted streets.  As we left this city of 1.2 million inhabitants, there was a shower and low clouds kept us from seeing the mountains in front of us.
The wind brought us a succession of showers and bright patches all day long.
Tomorrow evening we will take the boat at Rosslare to reach England.  Most probably the website will not be updated as promptly as usual.  It will be a long day because we will not embark before 9:15 p.m.  We will arrive at 12:45 p.m.  I worry about Serge’s fatigue but we have no choice.  From Dublin, the schedules are the same; definitely not the rhythm of a cruise ship…
