Serge will enter l’INSEP around 9:00 a.m. and will run on the track in the INSEP until 11:06 a.m. He will be accompanied by everyone who wishes to run these last two hours of the Around the European Union Footrace, and celebrate the 365 days of the race. L’INSEP will wish to see an identity card for everyone who wishes to enter the site.
At precisely 8:15 a.m. we are all gathered on the playground of the Jean Renoir School. The atmosphere is less euphoric than yesterday afternoon; it is time to say goodbye.
We leave Bourges, the prefecture of the Cher department, with 100,000 inhabitants, and cross this lovely countryside toward Parassy and Neuilly en Sancerre. At the start there is William, who will rue his last days with Serge’s, accompanied by his wife. Jérome, president of the Ile de France-Centre Region section of the CJD and who was responsible for organizing yesterday’s event is also on the road this morning. Georges found a driver for his car, Brigitte, so he is also running with Serge.
I don’t think I have forgotten anyone, but it’s true that I was not present at the first part of the course.
Emmanuelle, physical education professor in Bourges, and who took part in the “Polish Project,” joins the van at the start. Along with Eliane and René, she is soon part of the refueling team. Our Carrier Pigeons are with us for the entire stage and are always very enthusiastic. Arlette and Alain say goodbye at km 15 and head for Normandy.
I am fortunate to see my Aunt, Marie-France, at the roadside. She lives at Aubigny sur Nère and I haven’t seen her for 10 years!
In the afternoon, after Vailly sur Sauldre, Jacky De Barros and his wife, assistant director of the Jean Renoir School, join us with friends, Ludovic and Laurent and their family. In the end, it is a day that passes quickly, with a lot of coming and going and visits. In spite of this, Serge remains in his bubble and thinks a lot about the finish!
