The start at Cosec Stadium was lively. 250 students of different ages were there to run a lap with Serge and wish him luck. The primary school children will be following our adventures via Internet and they will also take part in a challenge organized by the municipality which will consist of answering general questions about Europe.
From there, Serge left the Seine Valley and entered the valley of l’Eure in order to reach Pacy sur Eure before heading south to Saint-André de l’Eure and then on to Evreux. The itinerary looked like a V for victory on this 3rd stage, but we still have 362 days to go!
At 1:00 PM we stopped 7 km from Prey next to a pharmacy where Serge has agreed to meet some runners. We had a picnic on the side of the road in the sun but there was an icy wind. At this stop the team was finally able to discuss some organization problems because we find ourselves running around in all directions. Guiding Serge, organizing our vehicles, trying to update the website and smooth out some technical wrinkles, and last but not least graciously accepting the hospitality extended to us, has prevented us from finding the time to read our e-mails and respond. But rest assured we will soon have everything under control and will catch up.
At Prey Serge makes a 20 minute stop to sign autographs before taking off with the runners from Evreux and the members of the CJD who will welcome us in their town this evening. They run on a portion of the ancient Roman road which, fortunately for our small van, has been paved.
At 5:30 PM a warm welcome awaits us at the Jean Bouin Stadium where we will spend the night. Many thanks to the custodians, Bernard and Pierrot, who provide easy access to the site’s facilities.
See you soon
