Bonsoir à tous,

 Good evening everyone,
It was a magnificent and sunny day in Brittany, the kind of day you would like to live on a daily basis;  small worries that have been hanging around are resolved and you are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel…I speak for myself who manages the IT and website admin for the race.  I’m surrounded by people who are competent in their field and it makes my task easier.
Serge, true to form, was ready to start at 7:30.  Leaving Rennes was not easy, as is always the case in cities we don’t know, but we had no snags.  Julie threw us a kiss in Saint Jacques de la Lande and today’s congenial running mates had to wait about an hour for Serge’s body to warm up because the morning departure is very difficult.  Once the warm-up phase has passed, Serge relaxes and opens up to others.  He chattered with Alexis, Denis and Gaétan all the way to Saint Péran.  Gaétan brought us news from his friend, Serge Roetheli (who ran around the world with his wife, Nicole, several years ago).  Alexis ran with us to Paimpont where in the end nobody saw the beautiful castle of Merlin the magician which is hidden behind trees on the far side of a pond.  What a shame!
Because he didn’t see the castle of Paimpont, Serge stopped in a typical small village where the houses are built of red shale.  In ancient times there was no court house in this town of Monterfil but there was and is still a “chicane” where chicaneries were resolved.  Our pause was enhanced by an explanation for tourists from the owner of the place, who was in the process of removing all the superb geraniums from the windows.
It is 1:30 PM and Serge heads towards Concoret before starting a mere 30 kilometers on the D2.
This evening Serge will stop in the middle of nowhere because we are staying in the hamlet of Caussac, 1.5 km from Serge’s stopping point.  Tomorrow he will reach Plérin.  We are sleeping in the guest house of the Le Cointe family, who welcome us with open arms.  We find some very tasty goodies on the table of tonight’s lodging.
Here we are in the Morbihan.
