‘Only 43 days now from the start of the TransAfrica expedition. After having ran across the USA in 1997 (from Los Angeles to New-York, 4597 K / 52 days), Australia in 1999 (from Perth to Sydney 3755 K / 46 days) and South America in 2001 (from Lima to Rio de Janeiro, 5231 K / 73 days) French ultrarunner Serge Girard is training hard for his new transcontinental race across Africa.Initially envisaged in Mauritania, the departure had to be moved in Dakar, capital of Senegal.During his 100 days run, Serge will be accompanied by a 5 people crew which agreed to be put at the service of Serge and the success of his bet :- Laure Magnan, 32 years old, physiotherapist. As she already was a crew member across the USA, Australia and South America, she will be co-ordinating the expedition. She is working at this project from the last 12 months.- Ludovic Fortier, 32 y.o., physiotherapist. He also knows very well Serge because he was helping him during the USA and Australia crossings.- Stéphan Jean, 46 y.o., film maker & photographer. Throughout the crossing, it will carry out the https://sergegirard.com/old/old/images for this website and some will be transmitted to TV media and newspapers.- Rémy Normand, 43 y.o., . Will be in charge with the 2 four-wheels vehicles, a Saviem TP3 truck and a Toyota HDJ80 car.- Jean-Benoît Jaouen, 45 y.o., journalist. He will be busy with the daily minutes of Serge’s runnings so that you can follow his progress.Mid-September, the two vehicles will embark in Le Havre with two crew members while Serge and the rest of his crew will fly to Dakar at the end of September.On October 1 at the edge of the Atlantic, precisely at the “Pointe des Almadies”, Serge will start for 7500 to 8000 K, the longest of his transcontinental run.’
