‘LET’S GO ! It was exactly 07.20 this morning when Serge started from “Pointe des Almadies”. After crossing Americas (North & South) and Australia, let’s go now for Africa, a very long time dream for Serge. His next hundred days program will be now, as for his crew, hot roads, bad trails and later, sandy dunes.October marks the end of rainy season in Western Africa. Since rains were generous this year for earth it also means strong wet conditions, not the best friend for a runner. As usual (his former starting lines were Los Angeles, Sydney & Lima), part of first stage means fighting against high traffic and pollution. The same for Dakar, with its 3 millions inhabitants. After 30 K, Serge will abandon Atlantic coast for a long time, finding quieter roads, cheerful people and first baobabs.Serge also knows that first days are far from the easiest ones in this kind of long term challenge, when his body has to learn back the new rules. So, even if first day was a hard one, not as fast as scheduled, hisspirit is ok, tomorrow is another day.’
