D5 – 87.0Km

This 12 hours stop in Kaffrine was a good rest for Serge, for the tired and now repaired truck and for all the crew. Everybody was very happy with this first air-conditioned room and some iced drinks and beers. As soon as 3.55 this morning Serge began his stage. He is now running along the country main railway coming from Dakar and going to Bamako, capital of Mali. We will follow this railroad for the next 500 K until the town of Kayes and Serge should reach the boarder of Mali on next Friday after a 9 days express run across Senegal. This Monday is the first day of the new school year for all children here in Senegal, so today we can see groups of children waiting for school bus in villages. It was a good day for Serge, best of all from Dakar, as he was able to run 87 K at a good 9kph average speed. Our road is still full East, penetrating inside Senegal and Africa continent. A mainly good asphalted road.
