At 6am, Serge starts to run, leaving behind Broken Hill, an important mining center.
Friday October 29th / 51 miles
Everything turned upside down when Laure who is in charge of the mileage tells us she had missed out 47,2 miles. Serge who had planned his arrival out gets in a state, he wants to pack it all in. So he decides to walk for 14,3 miles. Nevertheless he manages to achieve his goal for the day.
Saturday October 30th / 52,8 miles
Since yesterday (and till tomorrow) we have taken the only track which links Menindee to Ivanohe, 129,7 miles away. Francis, a photographer sent by the AGF join us.
Sunday October 31st / 50,3 miles Ivanohe
1864,5 miles covered
Serge has covered his 1864,5 miles in 37 days one hour and 58 minutes. Back on an other track to get to Condobolin.
Monday October 1st / 52,8 miles
Towards the end of the stage. By constant struggle against the wind Serge has a stabbing point in his back which forces him to walk.
Tuesday October 2nd / 53,3 miles
Serge decides to manage the stage in a different way. He runs for 24,9 miles, then he has something to eat and rest. He sets off again at 6pm and runs in the night followed by the Sangsue.
Wednesday October 3rd / 52,8 miles
Serge is exhausted and his morale is low. Still 311 miles to go.
BROKEN HILL
Cette ville a été surnommée Silver City en raison des mines d’argent qui ont fait sa fortune au siècle dernier, en même temps que celle de la plus riche compagnie australienne.
Au centre-ville, les rues portent un nom de métal ou de minéral ! Etrangement, Broken Hill, la ville de l’Outback par excellence, machiste et poussiéreuse, est devenue la Capitale artistique du bush. Ses rues, ainsi que le désert avoisinant, accueillent galeries d’art et d’artisanat.
The desertic landscapes are spectacular and the towns are real frontiers-towns: red sand, kangaroos, dingoes, pioners, Aborigines and opal prospectors, mines and ghost town of Silverton.
