SYDNEY

Tuesday, November 9th 29.2 miles / 47 km Sydney

Serge has decided to leave at 4 am to get to Sydney in the morning.

This morning, everybody is busy around him. Everybody feels nervous in his own way.

It’s difficult to get into Sydney because of the traffic. For 3.7 miles (6km) Serge must run on the side of a highway like road, so blocked up that there isn’t much space for him to run on.

He covers alone the eight kilometers left to end his long journey.

He crosses Harbour Bridge, the famous bridge, waving the French flag.

At 10.12 under the clapping, Serge appears, on the parvis of the Opera House, exhausted but a big smile on his face.

HAPPY TO HAVE MADE IT BUT HIS MIND ALREADY AWAY.

SYDNEY

Sydney, population (1990) : 3.656.900 inhabitants. It is situated in the south-east of Australia. The city and suburbs cover about 12,406 sq km (4790 sq /mi). It’s the first port and the biggest towns in the country. Sydney has become one of the main manufacturing, trade and financial centers in the country. Most of Australia’s foreign trade passes through Sydney. The main exports handled here are wheat, wool and meat.

Sydney has a temperate climate, hot in summer, mild in winter. The city has huge parks and beautiful beaches, on the Pacific ocean, such as Bondi beach.

Le climat tempéré de la ville, aux étés chauds et aux hivers doux, a favorisé l’aménagement de très vastes parcs et de belles plages le long de l’océan Pacifique, la plus célèbre étant celle de Bondi.

The 2000 Olympic games took place in Sydney.
