New developments around a tooth:
Sometime ago, in China during a feeding, a dental implant came out while Serge was eating a dried fig. Ten days later, he started having pain in his Achilles tendon. The inflammation of this tendon increased over the weeks, in spite of the treatment in Fukuoka by a dentist who put back the tooth. For the past two days Serge has complained that his gum is swollen and sensitive when he presses on that tooth. Obviously, there is an infection and the inflammation of the Achilles tendon is still there. Serge doesn’t want to go to the dentist: “I’m on the road for 11 hours and I haven’t time.” He started taking antibiotics yesterday and uses mouth wash twice a day. All we can do is hope that it won’t get worse before we get back to France, but we aren’t eliminating the idea of an emergency visit to a dentist if it becomes necessary.
We will set down our suitcases for three days: After studying the map, Serge decided to set up a base camp for three days in a hotel in Mutsu, even if he has to go back and forth by car and lose some time on the road. Serge is to run around Honshu Island and we are now on its north eastern peninsula. This loop will take us to the northern most point of the island, before heading due south toward Tokyo. It’s going to be a strange feeling to set down our baggage for three nights. I’m always worried that the rhythm of the followers will be broken. Movement creates dynamics and I fear inertia. This choice has been made because there are almost no hotels on this peninsula, as well as the fact that an Internet connection is of utmost importance right now.
