J322 – Friday, September 3: Cleeve Hill – Stratton Audley

78.02km  – 10H55’
Altitude : 96m
Back to my good habits, I am at my keyboard.

Serge slept badly last night because of several problems connected with the organization of the city stages.  It’s with a drawn face that he started this new day, resigned to having to face uneven terrain.  The mist was slow to lift and then the sun came out.  Today Serge changed his cardio belt, which has been acting up for the past 2 days, giving dubious heart beat rates.  It is the fourth change since the start of the race.  Some figures: Serge is now wearing his 25th pair of shoes and I have stopped counting socks…..
Tomorrow, Serge will finish 35 km from London, where we will spend the night, in order to be ready for Sunday morning.
I have to say that our Internet in-basket is heating up because there are lots of you who are waiting for Mr. Serge’s return.  For our part, the return is a happy event, as well as a worry.  As Serge has just said: “Every day I will be repeating the same thing and answering the same questions from the people who will be running with me.  I’m going to have to reduce my hours of sleep to be present at the city stages.  All this will be a source of fatigue and I don’t know how I will hold up.  My objective is to cover as many kilometers as possible, because I won’t have another opportunity to run like this for one year of my life (physically, it’s too hard)”.  Laure’s comment: “Is Serge becoming rational and reasonable?
At dinner Serge tells us that he found this portion of the course difficult but very beautiful, particularly Scotland and Wales.  It reassures us that he is not concentrating on just his feet!
