We spent the day on a monotonous and relatively dangerous road, the N24, but Serge is in good form, or at least he is getting better. As he says himself this evening, he is feeling better today than yesterday.
Finland is not a flat country and Serge gives the impression of floating on the road. Nature seems to have awakened only recently and only now are the farmers working their land. It’s apparent that the growing season is rather short.
We follow Lake Päijänne all day without really realizing it because only occasionally do we see the water in the many arms of the lake, which is 119 km long. It makes it the 2nd largest lake in Finland and 8th in Europe. Due to the purity of its water, it provides Helsinki with fresh water via a viaduct which is 120 km long and which took 10 years to build.
Seen by René, it was hot day, so hot that there were storms in the afternoon. Serge was unable to escape the deluge and took shelter in the van. Then the storm was over, the sun came out 4 km later and the road was not even wet.
Seen by Eliane, the day was much more pleasant than yesterday because Serge is better. Our two team members are happier and less anxious!!!
We are in the central region of Finland and continue to head north.
