72.4km – 9H56′

There were eight of us to share a breakfast prepared by Martine and Daniel.  It was 50 minutes of pure pleasure and Serge left at 7H50, accompanied by a handful of runners, most of whom were there yesterday.

The hills of Chablis woke like we did to a light covering of snow and temperatures did not exceed 0°C.

Serge arrived in Tonerre at 13H00 to the drums of the Griboudins, the group of Mr. Yves Imbert, who along with the mayor prepared a small reception for the arrival of Serge in the town.  Serge could only stop for five minutes because his body cools down very quickly.  Before leaving he put on a wind breaker.

Once again, many thanks for this warm reception in the Yonne Department, which is small in size but large in human kindness.

Serge walked the long hill that leaves Tonerre and then followed the small, deserted roads dotted here and there with tiny villages (9 inhabitants per square kilometer).  It’s flat countryside with a rough profile.  Serge was accompanied by two experienced runners from Tonerre to the end of the stage.

Runners  talk a lot.  So the time and the kilometers pass.  Sharing this experience brings him serenity, joy and happiness that help him forget for a time the pain in his leg. Morale is an important part of the challenge he has set himself.

16H20, Chasserey and huge snow flakes are falling.  Laure took over the four-wheel drive that will feed Serge.  Arlette and Daniel left with the camper for Bragelone, our destination. We reserved the only chambre d’hôtes in the village, taking advantage of comfort while it is still available.

Serge finished early, content with the day and the welcome, which we won’t forget.
