J38 – 1/24/2006

Departure took place 4 km before the suspension bridge of Dubrovnik, where the wind blew in gusts up to 100 km per hour.  Back on land, Serge skirted Dubrovnik and could overlook the old city, entirely rebuilt after the bombing which took place during the war.  The view was magnificent in spite of the grayness of the day.  We seem to have escaped the cold wave that has invaded Europe but 2°C seems rather unusual in this country of orange and olive trees and mimosas, which are in bloom.

Serge walked across the border while eating his sandwich 2 km separate the two border posts.  For the first time documents for the vehicles were requested to enter Montenegro but all the formalities took place without problem.

Serge makes a face, he’s limping a bit with his right leg.  Could it be the result of the message of his gluteal muscles yesterday?  These daily massages should be gentle and there should be no stretching and deep massage because the muscles are bruised, which is normal in view of the demands Serge makes on his body.  Things will be better tomorrow….

Serge finished after night fall. The wind had increased in violence at the end of the stage.  We headed toward Kotor, then  Budva.  At Kamenari there is a ferry to cross the bay of Kotor, thus saving some 40 kilometers, but when you love you don’t count.
