One month of the race is behind us!

Serge left from the Radio France building in Paris just one month ago, in the sunshine, full of energy, pride and courage and with one objective: reach Tokyo.  A month later the morale is good and Serge’s determination as strong.  The only difference between now and December 18 is the pouring rain that drenches the road, which is badly drained so that it sometimes becomes a stream.  Huge sprays of water soak Serge every time a vehicle goes by.

Serge doesn’t complain, he is resigned. “We had to expect entire days of rain sometime.”  Nothing can taint his good humor and Serge jokes: “I’m Beep-Beep”.

The mood of the followers remains good too, and even though soaked they can sill laugh: To see François riding the trailer is worth a detour.  

Let me take this opportunity to thank all our faithful readers and those who don’t tire of sending us messages of encouragement (please don’t attach files).  It’s a ray of sunshine in this depressing grayness.

An anecdote: A young driver’s muffler fell off onto the road and he asked us for a piece of wire.  It meant rummaging around in our trailer but what a look he gave us when he saw the reel, he was close to throwing his arms around  us for joy: Good guys the French!
