D20 – 60.5Km
FRIDAY, JANUARY 6
MINDELHEIM – WESSOBRUNN
60.5km – 7H53′
Laurent ran the first 12 kilometers with Serge this morning at a top speed of 10km/hour. Serge was in a very good mood again and it was a pleasure to see. In the words of Serge: “8 hours of sheer delight”.
Leaving Buchloe, Serge turned toward Garmisch-Parttenkirshen on small roads which were clear but steeply banked by snow. In the distance the Bavarians were obviously enjoying cross country skiing on this holiday (Bavaria is the only region in Germany where the feast of the epiphany is a holiday). Children roamed the streets disguised as the three kings with a box in which passers by were asked for coins.
At the beginning of the afternoon, Mr. Andachi and his family came to encourage Serge. Mr. Andachi even ran a few kilometers with Serge and found him in good form.
At 16H00, the whole merry team arrived in Rott. Rudi, who came as reinforcement, accompanied Arlette and Daniel to Munich and at the station met Eliane, Pascal and René, who will take over tomorrow morning. Thanks to Rudi for this precious assistance, which allowed Serge to run a few more kilometers and meant that Laure could do the laundry, write the daily log and take care of Serge too.
The Alpes are straight ahead and waiting. We’re ready for them.
