LOS MOUSQUITOS
The day has started in the pain, the morale is very low. Serge has a nail which hurts him and which is getting infected with the humidity and the soaking it generates, on top of that the mosquitoes are unbearable because they are always going at us so fiercely that they sting us through our clothes and our socks : it’s a right calamity. We’re all on edge, especially Serge who, with the tiredness, begins to depress. Tonight, we stay at the hotel of San José De Chiquitos, the rooms are equipped with ventilators. This village is an "oasis" in this hostile jungle. Nevertheless we’re going forward since we’ll reach the frontier between Bolivia and Brazil in a few days. An other positive point, the track allows Serge to run at night safely, so he starts at 3 am, lightened by the headlights of the "Leech" car till 5.30 am. Then, the mosquitos attack, after that, around 9 it gets hotter and hotter till 3 pm (the only time when the mosquitos leave us alone ). So, what is best, the 50°C in the shade or the mosquitos ?
