Daily running time: 7h48 min
Daily average speed: 6,4 miles/h (km/h)
1864,5 miles (3 000km) in 45 days 17 min
Start at 3:30 am after a good night’s sleep. Serge goes under a clear sky. A constellation of stars twinkle over our heads: it foresees a good day. The tropical rains which have fallen in the afternoon and in the night have washed down the track. Serge wades about in the mud. 13,7 miles (22km)further, a lorry blocks the track, the driver has lost control. After a small clearing, the "Leech" can drive on, 25,5 miles (41km) later, the 1864,5 miles
(3 000km) are reached with a smile. Serge says " you need bad days to appreciate good ones even more" the mosquitoes are leaving us alone. Sunday must be a day off for them. The red track is now so narrow, that only one car can go at at a time . The vegetation is still as dense. (It reminds us of Australia). The diversity of the landscapes and of the climates since the start of the race will leave us imperishable memories.
