8 o’ clock a.m., Avenida Ranulfho Marqués leal. From his 65,61 feet high the imposing statue of the Christ from Tres Lagoas is the only witness of the passing of Serge in the town centre.A Sunday morning, like any other one, the sun came out two hours ago and its presence is already getting more and more insistent. The hot air wraps you up, the asphalt gets very hot … And our Sergio runs… cheered by the team members. He runs and runs without getting out of breath, as fast as his legs could carry him. Two weeks to go before happiness. Our runner knows it, and that’s what makes him run. It’s with a smile on his face that he’ll cross the frontier between the Matto Grosso do sul and the state of Sao Paolo. He likes the spontaneity the Brazilian people show when he runs past them. A photo on the side of the motorway, an autograph at a toll.. a handshake with the policemen. The contact with people just passing is simple and straight forward. Short emotions which fill up his days and his souvenirs box. Like this morning with the crossing of the dam of the Rio Parana. Out of 3,10 miles(5km), 1,24 miles(2km) are forbidden to the pedestrians. Our Brazilians have made the required steps easier for us. Serge has crossed it without any problem, and has been able to appreciate this piece of work. Just one problem : the high voltage lines have interfered with his cardiac watch they have alternated his heart beat from 115 to 181 !!!! Spectacular effect, isn’t it ? The sight of the first swimming costumes in Copacabana might produce the same effect , who knows ? Serge starts a new stage. Like every day, to a new state, a new time it is not cheering news : the waking up could be difficult and painful.
