WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 5th / DAY 7

KM/DAY : 68 km         TOTAL: 489.5 km

Serge leaves Quichuas at 6.30. The track follows the mountain, it’s a side road in a very bad state but we appreciate its quietness. It’s an up and down hill day between 2400m and 2700 m in altitude, painful for the knees. “You feel tiny in the middle of  this imposing scenery” says Serge beaming with joy

Today the weather is close. Despite the rain we had last night clouds of dust rise off the ground, Serge’s eyes as well as nostrils and ears are filled with it. Nevertheless, it’s such happiness. He recovers from the problem he had with his calf on the first day. He knows he must take it easy. He decides to allow himself time to make the most of the camp before nightfall at 6.30. We improvise the camp on the side of the road under a cloudy sky with a few bright intervals.
