We leave LA PAZ
This morning start from LA PAZ. The sun is rising over the high snowy summits of the “Cordillière royale”. The sky is of limpid blue.
Serge is a little depressed today. The Altiplano and its 12829ft(3900m) of height made Serge draw in his reserves, he’s lost five kilos and only weighs fifty-five. It must be stopped because his well- known reserves are running low. Serge is wearing a new local hat, a kind of Borsalino, that the Bolivians are fond of. Since the border, we have put our watches an hour ahead, we are only six hours behind France now, but we lose an hour’s sleep. By the way, Bolivian dogs are nicer than Peruvian dogs.We nearly adopted a dog in TIAHUANACA. He stayed up at the camp all night at the crack of dawn he was lying next to our tents. We gave him a nickname : “Boliviano”. But at the time of leaving, he never wanted to climb into our car and he watched us go with the one eye he had left. Anyway Boliviano must have had his annual share of strokes.
